In June 2015, Big Water Consulting began working with the Ho-Chunk Nation Division of Planning and Development to conduct a census of their tribal population within and outside of tribal lands. This project provided vital information on the Nation’s population that Ho-Chunk governmental leaders are able to use to identify the needs of their community, help facilitate proper resource allocation and assist in effective governance. Program directors are now able to use this data to target resources, manage programs, develop a strategic plan and bolster grant applications.
Ho-Chunk Trust Lands in Dane, Jackson, Juneau, Monroe, Sauk, Shawano and Wood Counties in central and southern Wisconsin. Members of the Nation residing outside of Ho-Chunk Trust Lands were also included in this survey.
