Project Description

The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, a federally recognized Ojibwe band in Wisconsin, has a rich history and culture. The reservation was established through forced land concessions and relocation. Today, the tribal government serves as the main employer, offering essential services and operating various businesses. In an assertion of Tribal Sovereignty, the Bad River Band initiated the Bad River Tribal Census and Community Needs Assessment during the autumn of 2022 and concluded data collection in the early spring of 2023. The Bad River Tribal Census and Community Needs Assessment Survey utilized mixed methods, including in person and online surveys, key informant interviews, and focus groups.
