Project Description
The Muckleshoot Community Needs Assessment is being conducted by the Muckleshoot Housing Authority to collect vital information from the residents of the reservation and to assess the housing and other service-related needs of Muckleshoot tribal members. The data from this needs assessment, which is funded in part by Enterprise Community Partners, will also support the development of a permanent supportive housing project in partnership with BeauxSimone Consulting and RTHawk Housing Alliance. This permanent supportive housing project highlights the already successful partnership between the Muckleshoot Housing Authority and Muckleshoot Behavioral Health to combine mental health services with housing on the reservation.
The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe is a federally recognized tribe whose membership is composed of descendants of the Duwamish and Upper Puyallup people who have inhabited the Central Puget Sound area for thousands of years. The Muckleshoot Reservation, located in present-day Pierce and King Counties in Washington, was established in 1857 in the Treaty of Point Elliott.
