Project Description

SWA Corporation received an allocation of nearly $5 million through the US Department of Treasury’s Homeowner Assistance Fund Program. This pandemic-relief program supports homeowners in avoiding foreclosure and improving housing stability following the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Big Water Consulting worked with SWA to develop a plan for administering the HAF funds and meeting the requirements of the Department of Treasury. This included analyzing the needs of homeowners in the community to provide targeted assistance.

During the process of creating the HAF Plan, SWA became aware of a related program for Tribal homeowners being administered by the Tribal Government. Big Water coordinated the requirements of each program and created a single intake form to allow homeowners a streamlined process for receiving assistance.

As of May 2022, SWA’s HAF Plan has been approved by the Department of Treasury, and they have begun distributing assistance to the first of many households.
